ABOUT US:

Since 2009, Gowest has expanded its land holdings in the North Timmins Gold Project (“NTGP”) area to cover a total of 109 square km in the Timmins gold camp, with much of the additional lands being located along the same geological structures – along the largely undeveloped Pipestone Fault, believed to be a splay off the prolific Porcupine-Destor Fault, which has produced the majority of the 145 million ounces of gold produced historically along the Abitibi-Greenstone belt – that host Gowest’s Bradshaw Gold Deposit (formerly Frankfield East) as well as a number of other gold showings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the CFO, the Buyer will work with key stakeholders to understand requirements, specifications, and scopes of work (SOW). This is an integral role responsible for demand planning, category strategies and contracts negotiation. As this is a start-up operation, the successful candidate must have a strong focus on building mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Purchasing and/or Supply Chain Management considered an asset.
  • G Class Driver’s License (Required).
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience successfully utilizing templates, tools and processes such as RFP’s, RFQ’s, and RFI’s.Mining industry experience desired.
  • SCMP or PMP designation would be an asset.
  • Mining industry experience desired.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of procurement processes in a cross functional role including vendor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Develop, implement, and manage contracts and service level agreements for the procurement of goods, services, and leases.
  • Identify opportunities for operational and procurement process improvement. Research, develop, and implement innovative tools and techniques.
  • Act as liaison with participating departments for procurement and contract management as well as attend meetings involving daily procurement organization.
  • Develop and foster successful, long-term business relationships and ongoing process improvements with key suppliers.
  • Review non-contracted purchases to identify opportunities for standardization, contracting and cost reduction.
  • Facilitate the approval, prioritization, and sourcing process for approved capital items.
  • Perform bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids and cost analysis reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
