The Buyer will place purchase orders for new and existing production materials. May be assigned to purchase non-production items. They will identify and develop qualified suppliers which meet company standards. You will make an impact in this role by: Professionally place purchase orders to meet program and productions schedules, while maintaining good supplier relationships. Control the cost of purchase materials within budget and generate cost reduction action plans. Attain a level of product/commodity knowledge and develop a level of awareness of supplier operations as they pertain to the Company. Professionally resolve problems (both internally and externally), in a fair and ethical manner. Must have good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as outside contacts. Travel will be required to various supplier locations. Maintain and support company objectives for cost out, inventory turns, and supplier on-time delivery. Provide vendor performance data for Quarterly Scorecard. Key skills and attributes include: Ability to read blueprints and technical information. Understand quality assurance philosophies and practices. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge of accounting software, internet software, inventory software, spreadsheet software and word processing software. Skills in Microsoft Office software including: Word, Excel, and Power Point. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Analytical: Collects and researched data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data. Strong organizational skills. Business Acumen: Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability. Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Uses intuition and experience to complement data. Cost Consciousness: Develops and implements cost saving measures. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
