POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer for an MRO facility is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of aircraft parts, tools, and consumables to support maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations. This role ensures timely procurement of high-quality parts while maintaining cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 2-5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in an MRO or aviation environment.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft parts, ATA chapters, and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Quantum, SAP, AMOS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency of the English language (Read Write Speak) Bilingual is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, especially in AOG situations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills. Experience working with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and other aviation quality standards.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and logistics.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Source and purchase aircraft parts, components, consumables, and tools needed for MRO operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with approved vendors and OEMs.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value while ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or compliance.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure parts availability to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Expedite urgent or AOG (Aircraft on Ground) orders to meet operational needs.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers for timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Track shipments, resolve discrepancies, and handle returns or warranty claims.
  • Ensure all purchased parts comply with FAA, EASA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, vendor approvals, and certification documentation.
  • Work with Quality Assurance teams to verify and inspect the received parts.
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and warehouse teams to understand operational needs.
  • Provide reports on spending, supplier performance, and procurement KPIs.
  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain process.
