SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:   The position of Buyer III under limited supervision, performs various purchasing assignments requiring professional judgment and ingenuity.  In this role you will procure supplies, raw materials, and equipment necessary for the operation of the organization.    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   * Checks requisitions, contacts and visits vendors, examine bids, as well as initiates and negotiates        contracts. * Able to research and develop new vendor relationships. * Exercises an excellent working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistency with quality, quantity, and supply chain requirements.   * Develops written procurement strategies. * Initiates/creates reports as required to manage inventory and vendor performance/assurance of supply. * May act as training resource for department requirements. * Other duties and projects as assigned.   POSITION REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma or equivalent. * College degree in business or related field or equivalent experience. * 5-8 years of related experience. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. * MRP Knowledge and experience. * APIC training/Certifications required.   SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   * Self-motivated and self-directed * Detail Oriented * Communicative * Problem Solving/Analysis  * Time management and task completion skills * Team Player   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
