Position: Buyer – Industrial Distribution (PVF)
Location: Stoney Creek, ON
Salary: $73,500 – $76,000 per year
Schedule: 8–10-hour day shift | On-site
Industry: Distribution of industrial pipe, valves, and fittings (PVF) for plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical/industrial sectors
One of our clients is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team in Stoney Creek, ON. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage the full purchasing cycle, drive cost efficiencies, and collaborate closely with warehouse and sales teams.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in procurement and inventory management, excellent organizational skills, and preferably, product knowledge in plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, or industrial sectors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or inventory control (industrial distribution preferred)
· Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or a related field
· Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
· Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and computer systems
· Product knowledge of plumbing, fire protection, mechanical/industrial, and PVF components is required
· Solid mathematical and analytical skills
EDUCATION:
EXPERIENCE:
· Coordinate with sales and warehouse teams to determine purchasing needs and delivery timelines
· Review and process purchase orders; monitor shipments and follow up on delays
· Resolve vendor issues related to material availability, delivery, and pricing
· Handle customer returns, issue credits, and manage inventory adjustments
· Actively source materials and compare freight rates for cost optimization
· Monitor and reallocate slow-moving or overstock materials
· Maintain accurate inventory records (manual and electronic)
· Support physical inventory counts and internal audits
· Generate detailed reports, spreadsheets, and inventory summaries
· Purchase office and maintenance supplies as needed
· Participate in company health & safety training and programs
· Perform other related duties as assigned
