Description

International Truck Body Inc. is a leading innovator in the truck body manufacturing industry. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and with a team of over 90 employees, we specialize in designing and producing high-quality truck bodies for diverse industries, and have been experiencing 30-50% growth in sales year-over-year for the past 4 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure raw materials, fabricated parts, fasteners, hardware, and services related to truck body manufacturing.
  • Assess supplier capabilities, lead times, and pricing to secure the best value and quality.
  • Issue purchase orders and manage delivery schedules to align with production requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL), ensuring all suppliers comply with company quality and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to avert shortages or overstock situations.
  • Collaborate with various departments Sales, Finance, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure purchased items adhere to technical specifications.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to optimize costs and enhance supplier performance.
  • Address supplier-related issues concerning quality, delivery, or pricing promptly and professionally.
  • Track key performance metrics, including on-time delivery, cost savings, and supplier quality.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, material costs, and supply chain risks pertinent to truck body components.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with truck body components, metal fabrication, electrical systems, and automotive-grade materials is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) purchasing practices.
  • Experience in Six Sigma Continuous Improvement; Yellow or Green Belt would be favourable.
  • Understanding of welding, painting, and electrical installation processes utilized in truck body manufacturing.

_ Work Environment:_
This role is primarily office-based, with regular interactions on the shop floor. Occasional travel to suppliers or trade shows may be required.
