QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • MCIPS and/ or Business Degree
  • Proven mechanical/electronics purchasing experience for a manufacturing company
  • Global purchasing experience, management of strategic accounts and sole-sourced parts
  • Inventory Management (both supplier and internally)
  • Proven record of solving shortages
  • Analytical and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills; all levels internally and externally, with confidence.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual as a Buyer within Nidec Drives. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical accounts, high complexity / long lead time globally located suppliers.
This role is about getting material expedited, fixing root cause issues to create a seamless supply of materials on time for production, whilst managing supplier OTD and inventory optimisation.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Material Availability:
  • Raising POs, rescheduling and cancelling orders to meet MRP requirements.
  • To ensure order book management and keeping the system accurate at all times
  • Enforcing an RCCM approach to any line stops, for parts.
  1. Supplier Management
  • Day-to-day management of suppliers to ensure deliveries for parts are on time and in the right quantity.
  • To review any risks within the supply chain, proactively working to solve them.
  • Review suppliers’ performance and take the necessary actions for poor performance.
  • Support the Quality Department ensuring resolution of any quality issues.
  1. Inventory Management
  • Proactively seek ways to improve lead time and inventory holding.
  • Support the internal process, aiming to ensure material availability, quality, and accessibility.
  1. Project /Contract Management
  • Support assigned supplier accounts providing strong management to improve performance.
  • Work alongside Procurement; negotiate, implement, and review contractual agreements.
