Job Summary Analyze, seek out vendor partners, securing materials for commodities assigned, negotiating the best price. Responsible for determining material needs and planning and placing Purchase Orders that coincide with existing demand, managing inventory levels that maximize turns consistent with goals established for assigned materials. Job Responsibilities · Identify potential vendors and service levels for commodities assigned. · Build strong relationships with suppliers and evaluating/managing their performance and compliance. · Determine the purchasing needs of the organization, working with other departments to forecast demand, evaluating inventory levels and taking orders within the organization. · Negotiate directly with vendors to get the best possible pricing and payment options. · Operate ERP system to procure materials for company locations. · Use weekly cycle count, requisitions, Min/Max Planning and MRP report to ensure that minimum levels of inventory are maintained, carefully monitoring deliveries and any past due shipments. · Maintain inventory turns that meet or exceed goals set for the commodities assigned. · Purchase materials for weekly stock needs as well as to fill requisition requirements and also request samples of new materials. · Contact vendors regarding status of material ordered or backordered. · Conduct ongoing cost reduction and containment activities to ensure the lowest overall cost is achieved. · Act as backup for material quoting and availability needs. · Other duties as assigned Requirements Education and Experience · 3+ years of purchasing or similar business experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Extensive experience in prioritizing and organizing work activities, managing multiple tasks simultaneously within set deadlines and timelines · Sound knowledge of cost control functions to make appropriate business decisions timely for multiple assigned projects · Familiarity with designing process, inventory, project management and math aptitude to perform accurate calculations · Deep understanding and professional experience with purchasing contracts · Excellent negotiation, customer service and consulting skills · Strong verbal and written communication skills · Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and ERP system Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical Days and hours worked are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Physical Demands This position will require an employee to be able to be sedentary for long periods of time in an environment with the noise level of an average office.
