Job Summary: The Buyer is responsible for handling purchasing items with planned purchase orders, to ensure the best quality products that align to the client specifications are received on-time to meet production/project schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, or similar background preferred; will consider a High School Diploma with experience in the role.
  • 2+ years of buying or related experience, within a mechanical and/or production environment.
  • Strong abilities in multi-tasking, prioritization, cost-conscious, strong negotiation skills, solid math skills (basic & percentages), attention to details, strong sense of urgency, problem solving, and ability follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other equipment/machine specifications required. ERP (i.e. JD Edwards, SAP) experience would be preferred, as well as excellent Excel skills.
  • High customer focus and ethics; acts with urgency, ability to build strong professional relationships to collaborate with others internally and externally.

Salary: $120,000 – 130,000/Year, Based on Experience

Responsibilities
  • Handles and creates RFQ packages for new products in cooperation with Planning/Engineering department, with approval by the Purchasing Manager, that is aligned to the material specifications.
  • Creates Purchase Orders, with the approved vendor and pricing, that aligns to the material volume, project budget and timeline.
  • Manages inventory and suppliers to ensure quality material is received to meet the production and after sales orders.
  • Liaisons between the Quality department and vendors in order to get resolution on any product(s) out of specifications.
  • Validates and expedites purchases ongoing to ensure purchased items are received to meet special orders.
  • Supports the Purchasing Manager on Operational and Strategic projects as needed.
  • Maintains and keeps files, pricing, and other important matters up to date for the area of responsibility.
