Job Title: Buyer - Food Procurement
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000
Hours: 37.5 per week
Our Client is a specialist food procurement and consultancy company based in Worcester, supporting organisations across the education, social care, and hospitality sectors.
We are seeking a commercially astute Buyer to manage a complex and dynamic product category. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the commercial performance of your assigned category, with full autonomy to develop and execute a category strategy that aligns with organisational goals.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven commercial and procurement experience, ideally in the food or related sectors.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency with procurement systems and data analytics tools.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on cost optimisation, compliance, and long-term value.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deliver a strategic procurement plan for your category.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure optimal quality, value, and reliability.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service levels to maximise cost efficiency and supplier performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and source appropriate products.
• Monitor market trends, industry innovations, and regulatory changes to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, sustainability objectives, and industry regulations.
