Description POSITION PURPOSE Position performs primary materials production planning and purchasing functions for the Robot Division while working to maintain optimum inventory levels. Review, monitor, interpret and act upon MRP reports for order procurement and scheduling. Continuously work to reduce overall purchasing and total acquired costs. Evaluate current processes and offer recommendations for improvement and streamlining on an on-going basis. Perform periodic vendor visits to access current capabilities of existing and potential new suppliers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Purchasing support for robot manufacturing in Torrington, CT. Maintain an effective level of inventory for production while keeping inventory to a minimum. Weekly review, monitor, interpret and act upon MRP reports for order procurement and scheduling. Continuous improvement to reduce overall purchasing and total acquired costs. Develop new and exisitng vendor capabilities to meet production requirements keeping in mind cost, quality, and capacity capability. Evaluate current processes and offer recommendations for improvement on an on-going basis. Make recommendations on re-order points and obsolescence. 2. Planning support for Robot Manufacturing Analyze MRP reports and create production work orders in support of established inventory goals. Maintain existing work orders with regards to dates and engineering change revisions. Process transactions to complete and/or close work orders in support of Robot shipments. 3. General Be committed to Customer satisfaction at all time. Maintaining a “Customer Friendly” attitude whenever dealing with customers internal and external. Work independently and as part of a team. Attend production meetings on an as needed basis. OTHER DUTIES Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS MRP experience in a job shop manufacturing environment. Education: A.S Degree in Business Administration/Procurement Experience: 2-4 years purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Certifications/Licenses: Apics certification a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES This position requires proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and good mechanical/technical aptitude. Candidate must be able to work effectively on your own and as a team player. Must be detail-oriented, having a take charge, responsible, professional attitude and high energy level. Must be able to handle multiple priorities, and work well under pressure. The successful candidate will have strong negotiation skills and communications skills. Some knowledge working with BOM and work orders a must.
