Description We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Buyer to support our Supply Chain team with a primary focus on purchasing metal materials. This role is critical to ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of raw materials that support production. The ideal candidate will be eager to grow their career in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while developing strong supplier partnerships and market awareness. This position works closely with the Supply Chain Manager and internal stakeholders to manage purchasing activities, maintain inventory flow, and respond to changing production demands. Key Responsibilities Execute the procurement of metal raw materials (e.g., sheet, plate, tubing, and structural steel) in alignment with production schedules and inventory targets. Support the Supply Chain Manager in developing sourcing strategies and maintaining supplier relationships. Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, lead time, and reliability, with a focus on metals markets. Issue and manage purchase orders; monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery and continuity of supply. Track metal market trends, pricing fluctuations, and availability to support informed purchasing decisions. Collaborate with production, engineering, and inventory teams to understand material requirements and specifications. Maintain accurate purchasing data, including pricing history, supplier performance, and order records. Proactively identify and resolve issues related to shortages, delays, or quality concerns. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred; experience with M1 is a plus. Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions in a dynamic environment. Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment, preferably involving metals or industrial raw materials. Familiarity with metal types, grades, and common industry specifications. Understanding of inventory control practices and demand planning. Exposure to supplier negotiations and cost analysis preferred.
