About the Role As a Buyer you'll play a key roll in providing support to the business, ensuring that operational requirements, on time delivery, quality, and verifying product cost targets are met. Some of the primary responsibilities will be purchasing materials, supplies, and subcontracted services. This role will also assist in identifying opportunities to improve our overall purchasing and supply chain process, all while advancing your career and staying aligned with our core values: Great People, Going Beyond, and Growing. What you'll Do: Maintain supplier database to ensure accuracy of parameters; including but not limited to lead times, cycle times, credit limits, and pricing Process purchase orders daily to all suppliers to ensure delivery to meet company demand; follow up on any purchase orders where delays are anticipated or have occurred, working to resolve the issue Obtain quotes for materials, subcontracted services, and supplies in line with our policies and procedures for quoting. Track order rates, inventory levels, and delivery plans, using this information to anticipate orders, overages of stock, and proactively work with Manager of Supply Chain, Production Control, and Operations to prevent any line down situations. Monitor system suggestions to expedite and adjust deliveries as necessary to prevent backorders or excess stock Provide excellent customer service to internal team members when answering questions, expediting orders, obtaining quotes, creating orders and providing general information Deliver follow up communication to internal and external customers regarding status updates. Support the Manager of Supply Chain on annual cost out initiatives Able to work independently on projects and see them through to completion as assigned within the purchasing and supply chain department. Requirements Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent 2 or 4 year degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, or Accounting preferred 2+ years of prior experience in purchasing or related role Prior experience in manufacturing related organization Manufacturing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience preferred Skills and Competencies: Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications Ensure all internal and external customers receive positive service experiences Strong organization skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency Must be able to work on multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy Proficient in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) Embodies the personal commitment to the shared core values of UMC: Curiosity, Versatility, Integrity, Grit, Go Beyond Culture Fit: You’re a team player who thrives on collaboration.
