The City of Kenora is looking for students for summer employment! The position will provide assistance in the administration and enforcement of municipal regulatory by-laws including but not limited to, the parking by-law, animal control by-law, sign and advertising by-law and licensing by-law within the City of Kenora. The position will be expected to respond to enquiries and complaints and provide superior customer service as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a full-time student in the 2024-25 school year at a secondary or post-secondary education institution and be returning to school full-time for the 2025-26 school season
  • Candidates enrolled in a post-secondary program in Police Foundations, Law & Security, Criminology, Law Enforcement or a related field would be an asset
  • Must be available to attend and complete mandatory safety training and orientation
  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of climate conditions
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Possess good communication skills with ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills & interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (minimum G2) in good standing is required
  • Valid standard First Aid or AED training would be an asset
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Some weekends required.
    Rate: $18.13/hr
    Students will be required to provide the City with a clean criminal record check, driver’s abstract, and proof of enrolment if successful in a summer position with the City of Kenora
