POSITION SUMMARY

The Coaldale District Municipal Enforcement (CDME) Photo Radar/Bylaws Officer will work as a sworn Bylaw Officer for the Town of Coaldale. They will investigate and enforce bylaw offenses such as unsightly properties, barking dog complaints, dog off-leash complaints, and parking offenses, among others. The CDME Photo Radar/Bylaws Officer will also conduct Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) enforcement activities at preselected sites following the Coaldale Traffic Safety Plan and in compliance with the Automated Enforcement Technology Guidelines from the Province of Alberta.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in Law Enforcement, Bylaw Enforcement / Community Peace Officer Level II an asset.
  • Must successfully complete Basic radar training and Automated Enforcement Training.
  • Must pass security clearance, and Professional Standards Evaluation.
  • Minimum class 5 with Clean Driving record.
  • Positive Reference from a current or former employer.
  • Ability to effectively present information in both written and oral form.
  • Exemplary dress, deportment, and positive working attitude.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Ability to show genuine compassion and understanding as the need presents.
  • Commitment to flexible scheduling regarding participation in special events.
  • Ability to write reports, interpret Bylaws and provincial statutes and present such written reports.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with Town employees and managers as well as outside law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
  • Promote good public relations at all times.
  • Enforcement / investigation in accordance with Provincial Statutes and Municipal Bylaws.
  • Deploy the Automated Enforcement Device as required, on such dates, times and locations as directed.
  • Complete reports and take notes as required.
  • Proffer evidence in court.
  • Complete basic cleaning and inspection of equipment.
  • Move Automated Enforcement devices from location to location as necessary.
