The Boeing Company is currently seeking a C-17 Model Based Systems Engineer (Entry Level & Associate) to support Boeing Global Services in Long Beach, CA. Boeing supports a fleet of 275 C-17 Globemaster III Airlifters in a multiyear, multi-billion-dollar sustainment contract. This position supports the C-17 Sustainment, Obsolescence and Capabilities Enhancement programs which require System Models for each form, fit, function design change.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes (such as requirements decomposition, vertical and horizontal tracing, engineering milestone reviews)
  • Experience with Digital Engineering modeling (such as: 3D solid modeling, systems modeling, simulation)
  • Experience with creating MBSE systems models in Magic Draw, Cameo, Magic Systems of Systems Architecture, or similar software (can include applicable course work and internships)
  • Experience in a role that required analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Experience creating technical information to include in presentations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.) (Level 2)
  • Master’s degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering or other technical degree
  • 3+ years of experience or applicable internship(s) in engineering or technical field
  • 2 + years of experience creating MBSE systems models in Magic Draw, Cameo, Magic Systems of Systems Architecture, or similar software.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering processes including creating and decomposing requirements, SRR, PDR, CDR reviews
  • Experience creating and presenting technical information to leadership or customers
  • Course work / training in Model Based Systems Engineering such as Sys-ML, OOSEM etc
  • Demonstrated strong analytical problem solving, and troubleshooting of difficult issues

Responsibilities
  • C-17 Model Based Systems Engineers (MBSEs) will work side by side with a multidiscipline team of design engineers and project engineers to document / decompose system requirements, create block definition and internal block diagrams that describe the function and logic of the systems of interest in a Magic Systems of System Architecture (MSOSA) / Cameo System Model.
  • Validation and Verification artifacts will be created in the model using starter kits or artifacts will be linked to the model from the Authoritative Source of Truth (ASOT).
  • Engineers will utilize the model in support of systems engineering milestone reviews in accordance with IEEE 15288 such as SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR etc.
  • Engineers will be responsible for multiple system models supporting multiple modification projects.
  • Engineers will be responsible to ensure that system models are compliant to a standard outlined the customer approved style guide and systems architecture management plan.
  • Engineers will also provide input to continuously improve MBSE training, processes, and tools.
