The Boeing Global Services’ team in Long Beach, California, is searching for Associate Structural Analysis Loads Engineer.
This position makes use of and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Works under general supervision, and no instructions are needed for routine work. Receives general instructions for special assignments. Work is reviewed for sound technical judgment and overall adequacy. Contributes to the completion of specific project milestones. Failure to achieve results, reaching erroneous decisions or making faulty recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources. Interacts primarily with internal personnel and infrequently with inter-organizational and external customers on routine matters.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Engineering degree in any of the following majors: Aeronautical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering; Mechanical Engineering
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills with strong sense of customer service
  • Experience in engineering modeling and/or analysis with computer programming of analytical models, simulations, and/or data processing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience in development of loads and stress spectra used for fatigue analysis of a fixed wing aircraft
  • Development of aircraft usage and loading criteria based on military specification and the calculation of external loads and conversion to stress spectra
  • Strong computer programming aptitude and willingness to learn multiple languages (FORTRAN, C, and Visual Basic)
  • Experience developing external loads
  • Experience in the development and operation of aircraft tracking and spectra survey systems that process data obtained from onboard flight data recorders to generate data reports giving aircraft structural status and usage information.
  • Experience with static, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis of aircraft structures.
  • Development of methods to identify aircraft loading events from recorded data parameters, to calculate event external loads and conversion stress spectra, to incorporate crack growth algorithms, and to compile aircraft usage information.

SUMMARY PAY RANGE: $81,600 – $110,400
