EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Experience of working at a management level within a charity.

Responsibilities

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As BABONS is still within its first 2 years of existence, your role will be multifaceted. As the C.E.O. you will take the lead in continuing to establish BABONS within the local and wider community. You will work closely with the Founders and Trustees in developing and moving the vision and strategic direction of the Charity forward, ensuring that we broaden activity / services in response to community needs. You will be responsible driving forward the Charity to a high standard ensuring that you are operating in compliance all governance & statutory requirements in line with GDPR. You will also co-ordinate the daily Drop-In-Centre, supporting service users impacted by cancer. You will be part of regular 1- 1’s with the Chair of Trustees to discuss all areas within your role of C.E.O. including activity, personnel, vision and governance, giving the opportunity to raise any issues / concerns. As the C.E.O. you will work with the Founders to formulate and regularly review the organisation’s mission to support the mental wellbeing of those affected by cancer.

The C.E.O & Drop-in-Centre Co-ordinator will:

  • Take the lead in continuing to establish BABONS within the local and wider community.
  • Develop and implement the Charity’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the staff team and trustees.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation, including the Drop-In-Centre.
  • Ensure financial stability and growth through effective financial management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, and possible business supporters.
  • Monitor local and UK wide cancer trends, statistics and reporting, to identify areas of improvement and engagement for the Charity.
  • Make informed decisions based on data analysis and market research and represent the Charity in public settings, such as conferences or industry events supporting the Charity.
  • Be up to date with current information around Cancer in Tonbridge & Malling and the wider Kent communities.
  • Be aware of what is happening locally around cancer, and where potential gaps in support are.
  • Offer support through the use of listening skills and other appropriate interventions to service users who use the Drop-In Emotional Support Services.
  • With support from the Counselling & Emotional Support Team Lead, keep and maintain appropriate confidential records of those who use the Drop-In facility in accordance with the Charity’s confidentiality policy, and GDPR data protection policies and procedures.
  • Keep and maintain records of staff reviews, meetings, training and supervision in accordance with the Charity’s confidentiality policy, and GDPR data protection policies and procedures.
  • Ensure BABONS complies with all legal requirements.
  • Be the Deputy Safeguarding Lead for the Charity.
  • Help service users access other support services such as benefits advice, PIP form applications, Blue Badge applications etc.
  • Oversee the maintenance and updating of the signposting database to help service users access other health and social care services and support in the Kent area.
  • Ensure the Board receive appropriate advice and information on all relevant matters and enable it to fulfil its governance responsibilities.
  • Adopt and comply with BABONS values, policies and procedures and regulatory frameworks and to build on these.
  • Be approachable and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the best possible outcome for service users, recognising the value of, and delivering excellent customer care.

In summary, your role as C.E.O and Drop-In-Centre Co-ordinator will involve supporting the Founders and Trustees in continuing to build and grow the charity from the ground up, managing a team, ensuring legal compliance, providing excellent customer care to our service users, leading on fundraising and financial matters, and contributing to the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans.

  • Be resilient and have a good self-awareness of your own attitudes and responses.
