POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the C.M.T. Instructor will provide instruction for Medication Technician courses and maintain course documentation and related Medication Technician Program communication. The C.M.T. Instructor will directly supervise the overall operations of the Certified Medication Technician program. Responsibilities include participating in the development & evaluation of the training program, implementing the approved training program, supervising classroom laboratory experiences, evaluating student performance in the classroom, and providing supervision and medical evaluation. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in all areas required by the Maryland Board of Nursing for the CMT program. 2. Teach students how to properly administer medications, document accurately, and follow safety protocols. 3. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments according to program guidelines. 4. Evaluate student performance through tests, practical demonstrations, and clinical assessments. 5. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and compliance documentation. 6. Ensure the classroom environment supports learning, professionalism, and resident safety. 7. Provide support, guidance, and constructive feedback to students throughout the course. 8. Stay current with state regulations, industry standards, and best practices in medication administration. 9. Complete all required reporting and communicate progress to the Program Director. 10. Conduct student’s assessment and identify variables that may affect student’s learning. 11. Delegate and monitor student’s tasks. 12. Provide supervision with caregivers present during classwork hours. 13. Perform performance evaluation on all students at the end of the C.M.T. program. 14. Assess the environment for safety and cleanliness and make recommendations. 15. Assess infection control practices including proper hand washing. 16. Ensure that the equipment is being maintained properly. 17. Ensure that necessary supplies are available. 18. Make sure that emergency protocol is in place. 19. Participate in quality assurance activities. 20. Evaluate student performance and update skill validation competency as required by the agency. 21. Be available to the staff for private consultation requiring good nursing judgement. 22. Assist the Human Resource Specialist in maintaining all student files. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS * Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of MD. * Certified & Approved to teach CMT courses in the state of MD. * Minimum of two years’ experience, at least one (1) year of which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years * Minimum of two years’ experience in home health management * Complete a course with a minimum of 16 hours of instruction in the principles of adult education, or have a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills include the ability to market and relate tactfully with customers and other members of the community. * Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements. * Criminal Background check * Current CPR & First Aide Certification PREFERRED SKILLS * Master’s degree in nursing * Five years’ management experience in the healthcare field. * Five years of teaching experience preferably in certification administration.
