Description

Responsibilities:
Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions’ to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.
Noblis MSD is seeking a well-rounded Software Developer (C++) for the development and integration of Simulator/Stimulator technology for onboard trainers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software requirements for Machinery Control Systems (MCS) based on the Naval Combatant Design Specificaiton (NCDS), Design Practice Criteria (DPC) manuals, DoD and NAVSEA guidance, marine specifications, and commercial specifications as applicable.
  • Develop software integration designs for networking, supervisory control systems, and other test tools/systems developed inhouse.
  • Develop, maintain, configure, and manage software and hardware installation procedures, instructions, notices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide engineering services that include development and maintenance in support of hardware and software technical documentation and requirements.
  • MCS modeling simulation development including Simulation of MCS operation including but not limited to hardware, software and interface interactions.
  • MCS stimulation development including Stimulation of Machinery Control Systems MCS operation including but not limited to construction of hardware, software and interface systems, connections, and subsystem mounting.
  • Machinery Plant modeling simulation development including Simulation of Machinery Plant operation including but not limited to hardware, software and interface interactions.
  • Machinery Plant stimulation development including Stimulation of Machinery Plant operation including but not limited to construction of hardware, software and interface systems, connections, and subsystem mounting.
  • Provide software lifecycle support following the NSWCPD Systems Engineering Process (SEP) with applicable Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards and specifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s level degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering and 10 years experience modern C++ programming (C++14/17/20) with a focus on real-time, low-level communication

  • Skilled in debugging network issues using GDB, Wireshark, or Valgrind
  • Expertise in OPC UA (e.g., using Unified Automation or open62541 in C++)
  • Experience with Modbus TCP/RTU, EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, or DNP3
  • Experience integrating with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix)
  • Familiarity with RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and RSLinx communication drivers
  • Familiarity with implementing TLS/SSL, X.509 certificates, and PKI infrastructure
  • Use of Git, CMake, Jenkins, CppCheck, SonarQube, CppUnit, or Google Test
  • Familiarity with CMMI Level 3+ processes (REQM, PPQA, CM, VER)
  • Candidates will be cleared at a DoD Secret level or ability to obtain Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering prefered
  • 5-10 years experience software development in socket programming
  • 5-10 years experience software development in PLC simulation & coding
  • 5-10 years experience software development with graphical user interfaces
  • 5-10 years experience software development in DevOps
  • 5-10 years experience software development in OPC-DA
  • 5-10 years experience software development in OPC-UA
  • Work with Engineers and team members to develop standards and requirements
  • Able to work independently and have the ability to use appropriate judgment between what is requested and what is feasible
  • Desired certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Certified C++ Professional (C++14/17/20)
  • Requirement to work in the office
  • Must have good communication skills including communication with and with people with varying technical knowledge and various levels of management
