Description
Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabinet/Finishing Wiring Technician to join our high voltage switchgear team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude as well as hands-on experience in wiring and assembling control cabinets for medium to high voltage switchgear systems. This role requires great communication skills, a strong understanding of electrical schematics, use of common and specific wiring hand tools, experience in common cabinet wiring practices, basic computer skills, and high safety standards. Requirements Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings and technical documentation Perform point-to-point wiring of control cabinets, relay panels, and switchgear assemblies Route and terminate wires using crimping, soldering, or other connection methods as specified Install and wire terminal blocks, fuse holders, switches, control devices, gauges, sensors Ensure proper wire labeling, bundling, and cable management to meet quality and safety standards Conduct continuity testing of control wiring Make and record resistance measurement of coils and heating elements Perform final assembly and wiring functions on circuit breakers/switchgear Collaborate with order engineers, quality assurance and test lab personnel to resolve issues or discrepancies Record data, work time, non-conformances, QA and Engineering requests, and process completion within a quality management system Adhere to company safety standards and SOPs and customer specifications Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company policies Participate in process development and improvement exercises as needed to maximize efficiency and productivity Comply with specific standard processes and procedures as well as those common and typical to high voltage circuit breaker/switchgear manufacturing. Document and record necessary serial numbers, meters and tooling asset numbers, and any measured valued as required by quality and production SOPs. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and wiring schematics. Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail. Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable electrical safety standards. Familiarity with and ability to use a digital multimeter and other common electrical testing and metering tools. Preferred: Associate’s degree in electrical maintenance, electronics engineering, construction technology - or equivalent. 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years of experience in wiring industrial electrical panels or control cabinets. Familiarity with medium to high voltage switchgear systems. Familiarity with IEEE, IEC and ANSI standards. Physical Job Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended lengths of time. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee will be required to use hands and fingers to perform continuous repetitive motions. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. The employee will be required to regularly climb ladders and work from mobile work platforms and may be required to operate and work from motorized aerial work platforms. The employee will occasionally be required to work at heights of up to or higher than 15 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
