Full training will be given to allow you to work towards obtaining City and Guilds 3663 or CNIT and the opportunity to become Security Cleared.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Cabling Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, and termination of Cat6 and Cat6a branded copper cables within metal trunking and containment to ensure a reliable and efficient network infrastructure. The role involves working closely with the IT team to maintain high-quality data connectivity, support network expansion, and ensure optimal performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role is field based involving direct customer contact primarily working on large retail premises. You will learn techniques such as Cat6, Cat6a terminations, alongside dressing and presenting cabinets to a high standard.
You will be working to install high level technology’s systems and training on performing “On Site” and “Desktop” WiFi Surveys using the latest software.
Using your excellent installation standards and attention to detail, whilst following the installation design drawings and specification, you will take great pride in delivering high quality consistent and compliant installations to meet both Barron McCann’s and our customers’ expectations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• 2+ years’ experience in the installation of network cabling infrastructures in a variety of building types.
• Copper and cable termination inclusive of testing using the latest network infrastructure test equipment.
• Installation of all cable containment systems including PVC and Galvanized steel trunking, cable tray, basket, and conduits.
• Knowledge of the latest Health & Safety infrastructure construction guidelines, standards, fire safety and asbestos awareness.
• An ECS Card and IPAF certification is a must
• Industry qualification, City & Guilds or Similar network data cabling system (desirable)
• An excellent problem solver, you will be proactive, flexible, and creative in your approach to each installation.
• Communicating with external and internal stakeholders to support the delivery of the project and ensure project goals are achieved.
• Excellent time management, coordination skills and able to prioritise workload to meet projects requirements.
• A positive attitude to working on one’s own initiative to achieve project goals.
• Willingness to undertake specific customer required training and accreditations.
• Experience of working within a fast-paced and ever-changing team environment.
• Full and clean driving license.
