Description

CAD Designer II creates and revises technical drawings based on rough engineering notes, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. CAD Designer II will work with engineers and manufacturing personnel, who will provide the product with technical data. CAD Designer II will incorporate these specifications into drawings for the manufacturing, maintenance, or repair of the products. Duties include collecting measurement data, creating new models and drawings, updating existing drawings, creating files, and finalizing the drawing package. Assignments regularly require mathematical calculations and research involving precedents, manufacturers’ catalogs, and technical guides.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering/administrative support
  • Experience in working with plastic injection molding and mechanical automation a plus.
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. etc.)
  • Fluency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Uses ASME/ ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards CAD design and drafting techniques and skills.
  • Produces CAD format drawings from the data and instructions received from the engineers.
  • Ensures all CAD drawings are correct.
  • Works within the SolidWorks EPDM system.
  • Attends engineering design meetings as required.
  • Supports production.
  • Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule.
  • Provides engineering and administrative support during product development or continuous improvement cycle.
  • Coordinates and tracks all technical documentation supporting product development and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Confirms 1st Article inspection and prepares Tooling Approval Forms and related documentation.
  • Responsible for testing while following established testing protocols and completing all related documentation.
  • SPO (Sales Production Orders) samples – assembly and form/fit/function testing
  • FMEA – Failure Mode and Effect Analysis testing
  • Life-cycle endurance testing
  • Maintains awareness of work priorities and deadlines. Adapts to changing priorities.
  • Makes decisions about matters of importance to RDI (RD Industries)
  • Collaborates effectively with work groups, contributing ideas and helping the team meet goals.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures of RDI and community and regulatory instruction. Corrects or reports safety hazards.
  • Elevates complex issues or matters of concern to the appropriate party promptly.
  • Works efficiently, contributing to the success of the department.
  • Completes all departmental documentation consistently, with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Willingly participates in training and puts training into practice readily.
  • Trains fellow employees, including new hires and temporary employees as requested.
  • Reports any/all broken and malfunctioning equipment immediately
  • Maintaining a good attendance and punctuality record as defined by RDI’s policy. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by RDI.
  • Must be flexible and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities and workload throughout the day, week, and season.
  • Compliance with the employee handbook and all policies of the company.
  • Willingly completes other duties as assigned, including but not limited to engineering and administrative support.
