As the Senior CAD Engineer In this position you will take a leading role in the delivery and management of all civil engineering related CAD design, utilising the latest Autodesk software in 3D and 2D graphic to BIM Level 2 standard. As well as preparing construction details, including structural steelwork, reinforced concrete and temporary works details you will be capable of working adaptively to the clients’ BIM platforms such as BIM360 and ProjectWise with varying types of 3D modelling software. You would be expected to manage a workload independently, delegate and mentor a small but growing team. Key Responsibilities: Working independently or as part of a project team to produce, amend and maintain 3D CAD model data within a common data environment. Actively develop 3D modelling and engineering skills. Ensure CAD models are produced in compliance with, JGL internal QA system, project / client specific standards and industry standard BIM procedures. Prepare scheme designs with supervision as required. Assist the senior engineering design staff as required. Identify and resolve spatial constraint and arrangement issues. This job description describes the principles’ purpose and main elements of the job. The post holder is expected to work flexibly and respond positively to changing business needs. To be successful in this position the Senior CAD Engineer must have: Essential skills and experience: Degree or HND (or equivalent) related to the build environment. Fluent in English, with GCSE or equivalent. 5-10 years minimum experience with Autodesk products. AutoCAD 2D & 3D and Civils 3D is essential. Steelwork detailing. RC detailing. Civil engineering environment. Meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organization and externally. Good problem solving and the ability to identify alternative solutions. Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures. Build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organization and externally. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Other 3D modelling packages such as AECO-sim, Micro-station and Project-wise. Visualisation Techniques. BIM Level 2 standard processes. Competencies: Technical excellence: has sound knowledge in specialist technical discipline, actively expands their technical knowledge. Ownership attitude: aware of fiscal responsibility willing to shoulder more responsibility. Project management: can effectively manage project tasks, understands scope, tasks, budget, willingly delegates the right things to the right people and follows up Client focus: develops strong, loyal client relationships (people want you on their teams), identify new potential clients. Communication: ability to convey complex concepts, results or instructions verbally and in written format. Mentoring: sets a good example, is a role model for junior staff, actively seeks opportunities to train/mentor others. Innovation: brings new ideas to clients and the group.
