Location: Stuart Canvas (Office-based, with occasional site visits)

We are dedicated to providing innovative and durable products for a range of industries. We are currently looking for a CAD Product Design Engineer/Draftsman to join our team on a fixed term basis.

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented CAD Product Design Engineer/Draftsman to support our design team. This position would suit a recent graduate or someone early in their career who is eager to gain experience and contribute to exciting new projects. You will be involved in designing and drafting custom products, with a strong focus on CAD software and product development. The role will be based in our office, with occasional travel for site visits, which will be accompanied by senior team members.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in CAD software, with advanced skills in Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create precise and accurate designs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • A degree or qualification in Product Design, Engineering, or a related field (suitable for recent graduates).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits (accompanied by senior team members).

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Experience with other CAD design tools or software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in canvas or textile products.
  • Experience with prototyping or product testing.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for custom products using advanced CAD software (Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Work closely with the design and production teams to ensure designs meet client specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Produce technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Assist in the creation of prototypes and support the testing and refinement process.
  • Attend site visits with senior staff to collect measurements, assess client needs, and provide on-site design support.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide innovative design solutions and improvements.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards and adhere to safety and quality guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing support to the design team, including troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues.
