The Water/Wastewater practice is seeking a CAD Technician.
DEA is currently hiring for a CAD Technician in our Water / Wastewater Infrastructure practice to support major projects in our Puget Sound and Mountain West regions and other DEA offices. This position is ideally located in either our Bellevue, WA office (or another Puget Sound Region office), Salt Lake City, UT office, or Portland, OR office. The position will operate under the direction of professional engineers and project managers as part of a team working on city, county, state, federal, and private projects. The primary focus for this position will be as support for a wide variety of water / wastewater infrastructure and water resources projects, including, but not limited to, water distribution and sanitary conveyance design (gravity and pumped systems); pump stations; reservoirs; utility relocation; surface water management systems; stormwater facilities; floodplain management systems; culvert, stream, wetland and habitat restoration; and preparation of engineering and construction plans and exhibits.
Ideal candidates will be experienced in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer and have a good understanding of related water / wastewater infrastructure, utility relocation, and water resources engineering concepts and systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Drafting, Civil Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with, or ability and desire to learn, state-of-the-art computer drafting tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer).
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under tight deadlines.
  • Desire and willingness to work in a team-based environment that involves coordination with multiple design disciplines and offices.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications.
  • A minimum of 5 years of drafting experience.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Computer-aided drafting of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure elements and systems, as well as utility relocation.
  • Preparing drawings/figures during the design development phase.
  • Revising project drawings marked up by the client and/or engineer.
  • Creating and managing electronic document file structures and naming conventions in accordance with company or client standards.
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, and other drafters to set up and manage construction drawings and design documentation.
  • Creating and/or modifying base drawings, which may be used in a variety of presentation documents.
  • Serving as a productive team member and proficient user of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads Designer to work on a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output that conforms to company standards.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Following CAD standards.
