ORB Recruitment have a wonderful opportunity available for a skilled CAD Technician to join our client - an industry leading specialist in Vehicle Conversion.
Under the supervision of the Technical Manager, the CAD Technician is responsible for a variety of design/drafting activities including preparing and updating drawings and BOM’s (Bill of Materials) for production. Preparing detailed drawings to the company standard for all relevant departments and any suppliers that require drawings.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the technical area.
  • Knowledge and experience of technical functions and internal control.
  • Experience in vehicle conversion.
  • Have good organisational skills.
  • Have a good level of IT
  • Have good personnel skills, be a team player with a flexible approach and a willingness to learn.
  • Have effective communication skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum qualifications of HNC or above in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3D CAD, Solidworks/Swood is preferred but other similar 3D packages will be considered.
  • Knowledge of PDM Software.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out drawing and BOM amends in line with QMS
  • Ensure work in progress parts are latest revision prior to nesting.
  • Create programs for the CNC machine.
  • Ensure CNC programs are correct for approval.
  • Ensure a culture of prevention of defects is in place.
  • Ensure issue of correct drawings to other departments/suppliers.
  • Modify drawings and report changes.
  • Produce detailed drawings for fitting and design teams.
  • Investigate any drawing/BOM discrepancies before implementing any changes.
  • Maintain specified work records in both Emax & Solidworks PDM.
  • Recognise and communicate improvements through continuous monitoring.
  • Problem solve in your area.
  • Must co-operate with management in all areas.
  • Work in accordance with approved codes of practice.
  • Work in accordance with company Health & Safety rules and regulations.
  • Working as part of a team.
  • Transfer skills to other team members.
  • Maintain good housekeeping.
  • Uphold Health and Safety protocols.
