QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: AAS in Technical Field or Technical Documentation from Trade Related Academy or School Applicable experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement.
EXPERIENCE: Must be proficient with Solidworks. Foundry, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Tooling experience preferred. Knowledge of other modeling software, understanding or experience in dimensional scanning, and experience with solidification software would be beneficial.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Performs a variety of engineering directed assignments in developing and implementing casting and tooling design. Knowledge of production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards is beneficial. Working with customer provided drawings and models to develop and improve the design for manufacturability. Work with product engineers and vendors to develop tooling and fixtures. Monitors assigned projects to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards. Ability to multitask and be flexible with assignments. This position will be working in the engineering dept. and report directly to the Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Use part drawings to create casting models.
  • Work with current models to add draft, shrink and stock.
  • Modify customer provided models to make casting manufacturable.
  • Work with Quality and Engineering to identify dimensional discrepancies on castings and models.
  • Work with engineering to develop assembly, target, machining and inspection fixtures.
  • Involvement with manufacturing departments to improve process related fixtures.
  • Working with scan data and models to assist engineering and quality.
  • Add, remove and modify gating systems to models for use with Magma solidification software.
  • Working directly with customers on design related issues.
  • Work with Product Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to identify root cause of discrepant designs and tooling and assist in developing corrective action.
  • Ability to work in a team setting or individually.
  • Be familiar with customer and regulatory specifications
  • Be familiar with all internal work instructions and forms, and maintain good ISO practices
