JOB DESCRIPTION

J.D. Barnes Limited is the largest organization of its kind in Canada providing land surveying, bathymetric surveying, underground utility mapping, aerial mapping, land information solutions and integrated online data solutions coast to coast.
J.D. Barnes Limited is currently looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated CAD TECHNOLOGIST for our Thunder Bay location.
The CAD Technologist is responsible for the preparation of CAD work involving detailed files, some survey interpretation, and a variety of reference data.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education in Survey, Civil or CAD program, or 2+ years of land surveying or CAD experience is required
• Background in Legal and Engineering plan preparation is required
• Detail oriented, with ability to read and understand Engineering, Architectural & Structural design drawings
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to learn new field and office surveying techniques and software
• Experience in new construction house siting is an asset
• Experience with Microstation is an asset but not required

• Process field data
• Prepare legal surveys and topographic surveys
• Provide calculations to field staff
• Interact with field staff to ensure proper configuration of data/sketches and conformity to client specifications
• Liaise with clients regarding plan details
• Maintain accurate records, time-sheets, and other files pertaining to the job
