Key Accountabilities:

  • Apply engineering principles to support and manage the delivery of projects in line with Council’s strategic and operational objectives. Gaining experience in investigations, design, project management, construction and maintenance, asset management, operations, and other activities associated with the provision of engineering services in local government.
  • Provide written reports on work related matters, manage up and ensure all project related documentation is produced to the required standards.
  • Provide factual, timely and accurate advice/information and recommendations to council staff to facilitate decision making processes.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture within the team to ensure a safe workplace for our people by monitoring compliance with policies, procedures, legislation, specifications and any other documentation required for the successful delivery of projects.
  • Evaluate and mitigate the impact of works on the public and initiate and encourage innovative work practices and procedures whilst maximising the utilisation of resources
Responsibilities

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS CADETSHIP IS TO DEVELOP SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES THROUGH UNIVERSITY STUDIES AND WITHIN THE WORKPLACE. UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF OTHER ENGINEERING PROFESSIONALS, THE CADETSHIP WILL DEVELOP SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO SOLVE COMPLEX PROBLEMS RELATED TO INVESTIGATIONS, DESIGN, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE, ASSET MANAGEMENT AND OTHER ENGINEERING ACTIVITIES.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Full time: 70-hour fortnight
Salary: Range from $64,651 to $101,883 pa + 12% super
