CAFÉ & SHOP ASSISTANT

Location: Scarriff, Co. Clare
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: 10.5 hours per week (3.5 hours per day, over 3 days per week, Mon - Sat)
Pay: €14.00 per hour

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Café & Shop Assistant to support our small team at Irish Seed Savers Association.
This is a part-time role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, has an interest in food and sustainability, and is happy to get stuck into a range of tasks—from customer service to food prep and merchandising.

Irish Seed Savers is a non-profit organisation based in East Clare, focused on preserving Ireland’s food crop heritage. We welcome thousands of visitors each year to our beautiful organic gardens, heritage orchards, and visitor centre. Our café and shop are central to the visitor experience—offering homemade food, Irish-grown seeds, trees, books, and ethical gifts.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Greeting and serving customers in our café and shop
  • Preparing and serving light food and drinks (soup, sandwiches, baked goods, teas/coffees etc)
  • Keeping café and shop areas clean, tidy, and well-presented
  • Using the till to process sales and handle payments accurately
  • Assisting with restocking, pricing, and general housekeeping duties
  • Sharing information about our products and mission with visitors
  • Working closely with the supervisor and wider team to support a smooth day-to-day operation
