The Café Assistant will help with the day-to-day foodservice operation at McMaster Innovation Park (MIP) with emphasis on providing a quality guest experience. Reporting to the Cafe Supervisor, this position will also work in collaboration with the Conference & Hospitality Manager to provide catering for events held within the park.
This is a part-time position, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm weekdays, and catering events typically during the weekdays and early evening weeknights.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• 5+ years of food service experience required
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs is an asset
• Food Handlers Certificate an asset)
• Smart Service Certificate (an asset)
• First Aid Certificate (an asset)

• Collaborate with the Café Supervisor to develop and adjust Café menu offerings to provide guests with a diverse selection of items.
• Organize supplies and food inventory as required to maintain effective workflow and cafe operation.
• Prepare daily food items for the café such as baking muffins, preparing sandwiches, etc.
• Complete paperwork such as monthly inventory reports to help track the profitability of the café.
• Ensure all café areas are clean, tidy, and in compliance with Hamilton Public Health Food Safety Standards.
• Nurture positive relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost MIP’s brand reputation.
• Preform daily cash transactions using a point-of-sale system.
• Help create a catering menu for the Conference Facility and tenants of the park to improve revenue of the café.
• Assist during catering events at the park
• Assist with receiving and executing any catering orders including preparation, delivery, cleanup and billing.
