Now Hiring: Lead Café Assistant
Celebrating 20 years in the heart of the community, Riverdale Perk is a local meeting spot, a neighbourhood staple, and a destination for great coffee, fresh food, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
We’re looking for an experienced, reliable, and friendly Lead Café Assistant to join our team. This role supports the day-to-day flow of the café while also helping with leadership tasks like mentoring staff, keeping service standards strong, and supporting the owner and assistant manager with quality, innovation, and team development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver warm, efficient service to every guest
  • Take and prepare orders accurately using our POS system
  • Make food and drinks to our quality standards
  • Help maintain a clean, organized space (tables, counters, equipment, floors)
  • Support new menu or beverage development and staff training initiatives
  • Restock inventory and supplies throughout the day
  • Assist with basic food prep (e.g. chopping, sandwich/bowl assembly)
  • Address customer questions or concerns professionally and promptly
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
  • Open and close the café, including completing checklists and securing the space
  • Help delegate and complete daily/weekly tasks
  • Communicate regularly with the assistant manager and owner

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid City of Toronto Food Handler Certification
  • Experience in a busy café or food service setting
  • Great communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized under pressure
  • Ability to multitask and take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Confident using a POS system
  • A good understanding of food safety practices
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Positive energy, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love for food, coffee, and community
