Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To deputise for the Manager in their absence. Implement workflow procedures created by the Manager, ensuring the hospitality department runs smoothly and all tasks are complete. Support the Manager by taking care of day-to-day admin tasks, overseeing training and being a champion of team standards. Leading on communication with the team ensuring shift information is shared and acted upon, preparing rotas and implementing training to ensure best practice.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Supervising work of Caffi Bar Assistants serving bar and café customers with food and drink, ensuring that all team members are working effectively and efficiently
  • Maintain a friendly manner, good communications and ensuring high standards of customer service in line with Chapter’s customer care policy
  • To lead and support on-the-job training of team members
  • Handling any customer complaints, suggestions, and feedback reporting back to the manager
  • Being knowledgeable about each day’s menu and ensuring that the team are aware.
  • Being able to communicate successfully with the kitchen team on menu adjustments, customer needs and specials etc.
  • Knowledgeable about licensing law and the responsibilities of licence holders about serving alcohol
  • Responsible for cash policy, operation and accuracy of the tills, including authorising refunds, maintaining till floats and reconciling cash
  • Managing hospitality service as booked
  • Ensuring all orders are placed in a timely manner and making sure the caffi bar is stocked at all times
  • Deputising for the Caffi Bar Manager in respect of the management of the cellar, which could include changing barrels and gas, general cellar maintenance, taking in deliveries of stock
  • Ensuring that cleanliness of serving areas, tables and chairs in the caffi bar is maintained, managing cleaning rotas
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained, including chiller cabinets and servery, that counter is set up with sugar, condiments, milk, cutlery etc – and that the display stock is attractively presented
  • Ensuring that notices, menus, and promotional materials are up to date and properly displayed
  • Following agreed dress code, including uniform where applicable.
  • Maintaining personal cleanliness and neat appearance.
    The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory new starter training and level 2 food hygiene within the first 3 months of employment.
