Job Description Cafe Barista/Cashier, Non Residential: non-exempt, full-time; on average 35 hours per week. Reports to Cafe Manager. Summary The Omega Café is an independent facility within the Omega Food & Beverage department. The Omega Café provides a welcoming, shared space where participants, staff, faculty and the public can gather, enjoy light meals, snacks, and beverages. The Café also offers space for workshops and special events to meet and is host to book signings, concerts, and craft fairs. Barista/Cashiers are expected to be well rounded, and able to work well in each of the café “stations,” sometimes all of them in a single shift. The café goes from extremely busy (during coffee breaks and before/after classes and events) to quite slow. Barista/Cashiers are expected to focus on singular tasks and customer service during busy times and multi-task when the Café is less busy. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Prepare barista drinks for customers to order in a timely fashion. * Maintain the stock of the barista station. * Maintain organized and well-prepared work stations. * Make coffee/ espresso drinks, juices, smoothies, etc. * Stock retail shelves, beverage case, pastry case, and coffee condiment area. * Stock ice cream, coffee beans and supplies behind the counter. * Maintain cleanliness in the cafe (wiping tables, sweeping, etc.). * Operate Point-of-Sale system. * Run dish washer and put dishes away. * Assist Cooks, as needed, with food prep, assembling sandwiches and salads, plate garnishing, baking, grill and fryer orders. * Work with or around knives, equipment with moving blades, open stovetop flames, hot oven, steam, and oil. * Serve food to tables. * Be informed about all aspects of the food served including providers, ingredients, and available choices. * Perform deep cleaning tasks in all areas of the Cafe. * Be welcoming and prove expedient servcie to all patrons. * Other duties as required by Supervisor. Work Details * This position functions in the Cafe on the Omega Campus. * This is a full-time position, 35 hours a week. Weekend and evening availability are required. Physical Requirements * Ability to frequently move items that weigh 30-50lbs for various needs. * Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time * Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions * Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary * Ability to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. * Ability to workin a constant state of alertness and safe manner. * Ability to observe details at close range. Required Experience/Qualities * Experience working in the food service industry preferred. * Timely, reliable and service oriented individual. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment. * Team player. * Alignment with Omega's mission, goals and core values. Responsibilities

Cafe Barista/Cashiers are responsible for preparing drinks, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service. They must be able to work at various stations within the cafe and assist with food preparation as needed.
