Join the team at the soon-to-open St John of God Midland Private Hospital (opening August) as a Café Host, where you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for patients, visitors and staff. As an experienced café allrounder, you will deliver a high standard of hospitality and customer service, engaging warmly with customers while efficiently managing food and beverage service in a fast-paced environment. About the new Midland Private Hospital A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus. A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region The hospital will feature: 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit. 33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit Eight operating theatres. A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory The Role Make a deliberate, personal effort to engage with café customers. Maintain a high standard of customer service through friendliness, speed and efficiency. Maintain high levels of personal presentation, customer interaction, constructive communication and teamwork. Make delicious coffees as required within specified time guidelines (and to the correct specification). Further to this prepare other hot and cold, beverages as required to the menu standards. Prepare hot and cold food orders as required and to menu standards including liaising with the kitchen caregivers as necessary. Process customer payments with friendliness, speed and accuracy, collecting correct payment from all customers. Adhere to the café standards for product presentation and portion size. Ensure the security of cash, stock and equipment. Ensure displays are well stocked and merchandised. Use own initiative to solve minor problems as they arise during the shift. Demonstrate the ability to multi-task across the café’s with a high level of environmental/situational awareness eg upon return from delivering meals to dine-in customers, collect empty plates from and clear tables. Physically capable of undertaking duties including pushing of trolley’s, being on feet for considerable periods during the working day and able to carry 3 plated meals or coffees. Maintain high levels of general cleanliness and food hygiene standards – in all front-of-house areas. Follow the correct procedures for regular handwashing. Assist in the dishwashing process as required during each shift. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas as required including sweeping, mopping and cleaning of the general café area. All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor We are seeking a friendly and reliable individuals with a nationally accredited Basic Food Safety certificates and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in cash handling, high standards of presentation and punctuality, and solid organisational skills are essential. A sound understanding of food hygiene, workplace safety, and manual handling is required, along with a willingness to learn and flexibility to work a range of shifts across a 7-day operation.
