CAFÉ JOB COACH / INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT PROVIDER Location: Futures Inc. Café Program – Hartford, CT Schedule: Part-time to Full-time (approximately 30 hours/week); weekend availability required. Our café programs are an extension of this mission—offering hands-on employment training, social skill development, and real-world work experience in an inclusive, fast-paced setting. ---------------------------------------- POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Café Job Coach / Individualized Support Provider to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a working café environment. This role blends direct support, job coaching, and café operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others while working in food service. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and comfortable in a busy café setting, with a passion for teaching skills that promote independence and confidence. ---------------------------------------- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Coach and support individuals as they learn and perform café-related tasks * Assist with fulfilling customer orders, paying close attention to preferences (dairy, sugar ratios, order accuracy) * Model and teach proper café operations, including food prep, beverage preparation, register use, and customer service * Supervise individuals to ensure safety, engagement, and positive workplace behavior * Promote independence through encouragement, consistency, and positive reinforcement * Maintain clean and organized workspaces * Perform short-order cooking and café transactions as needed * Document daily accomplishments, goals, and observations * Communicate regularly with supervisors and program staff * Transport individuals using a personal vehicle, following all driving and safety standards * Perform other duties as assigned ---------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent * 1–2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or challenging behaviors preferred * 1–2 years of barista or café/food service experience preferred * Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment * Valid Connecticut driver’s license * Reliable personal vehicle and current car insurance * Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a busy café environment * Successful completion of background checks and required training ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU’LL GAIN At Futures Inc., we invest in our team as much as the individuals we support.
