The Silver Jug Café at Merrifield Garden Center We are looking for friendly and reliable people to join our Silver Jug Café team. Our cafe is a popular destination for breakfast and lunch. Candidates for this position must be organized and responsible and pay close attention to detail and food safety. The café team will oversee all aspects of the café's operations, which includes selling food and drinks, hiring, managing, training and scheduling staff, menu planning, maintaining inventory, implementing the food safety program and preparing food. Some of the primary responsibilities include: Greeting customers and answering questions. Maintaining safety and ensuring a high degree of food quality. Pricing all menu items accurately based on volume and supply costs. Handling orders of all ingredients and products with vendors. Sourcing new vendors, when needed. Working with the management team to develop menu items and seasonal offerings. Hiring, training, managing and scheduling employees. Ensuring the cafe remains clean, organized and highly functioning. Monitoring cafe sales and adjusting the menu, strategy or set up as needed. Taking customer orders at the registers and running food. Controlling operational costs and identifying ways to cut waste. Interacting with customers to get feedback on product quality and service levels. Nurturing friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation. Weekend availability will be required for this position. The ideal candidate must possess the following: Ability to be physically active and on your feet for long periods of time. Personable, organized and timely. At least 3 years of relevant restaurant experience. Food safety manager certification required and can be obtained as part of the job training. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to balance a drawer. Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. Proficiency in math and computer skills required to operate the cash register Benefits include: Eligible for health, vision and dental insurance after 90 days of employment.
