CAFE MANAGER: FULL TIME. SHIFTS OCCUR 9 AM-5 PM WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY

This role requires you to work at Charleston in Firle (BN8 6LL) and Charleston in Lewes (BN7 1FB). The cafes on these sites are open 10 am-5 pm. Shifts will be mostly at Firle to start.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Catering/cafe experience
  • Experience in a FOH customer-facing role
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Experience and willingness to working as part of a team
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Passion for exceptional customer welcome including the ability to assist all

visitors and support those with access requirements

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays
  • IT competency
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to learning about Charleston’s history and vision for the future.
  • An interest in the arts, culture and heritage
  • Excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • NVQ level 2 food safety and hygiene certificate
  • Experience of working at events
  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Knowledge of the local area
  • First Aider

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Charleston is taking our catering offer in-house this season with a brand new
menu, layout and suppliers. We are looking for a Cafe Manager to lead a small
catering team, ensuring that Charleston’s values and vision are carried into this
exciting new venture.
The Cafe Manager will draw on their leadership and organisation skills to ensure
the cafe team work effectively together, striving to deliver exceptional customer
care. You will oversee the running of the cafe, including ordering food and
supplies, preparing food and hot drinks, serving customers, managing the cafe
team, and contributing to the collective effort to make everyone feel comfortable
and welcome at Charleston.
