Café Manager Job Description + Responsibilities

  • Engage fully with guests and oversee smooth flow during service.
  • Communicate company vision & expectations.
  • Leads by example.
  • Manage, supervise, train and develop café team.
  • Be accountable for the business performance of the café.
  • Train, coach, develop and discipline all front of house employees through ongoing feedback and the establishment of performance expectations.
  • Ensure the highest quality customer service and positive guest experience in all areas; investigate and respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to rectify poor guest experience.
  • Ensure that schedules reflect business needs.
  • Demonstrate high personal integrity & business ethics.
  • Availability and energy to work full time (40+ hours), day shifts, weekends, holidays and occasional evening events
  • Engage in the planning and execution of seasonal menus and special events.
  • Weekly inventory and ordering.
  • Create an engaging and energetic environment for all staff
  • Assist in planning and executing offsite catering events.
  • Manage and maintain equipment.

Skills + Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge / expertise of the hospitality / food & beverage industry.
  • 5+ years of serving and/or bartending in fast paced, high volume café environment.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • High personal integrity, professionalism and maturity.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of organization and problem solving skills in a fast paced environment while acting as a respected leader.
  • Superior verbal, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented personality.
  • Barista, cocktail and wine knowledge.
  • Smart Serve certification required.
  • Be well versed and up to date with WHMIS, Work Place Health & Safety & Public Health food handling certificates
  • Knowledge of Maitre ‘d POS systems and ability to problem solve IT issues (modems, computers, debit & credit machines)
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff and work effectively as part of a management team.
  • Excellent math, reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Drivers license.
  • Experience/Training/Education in social media marketing a plus.
