We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. BENEFITS Competitive pay Health and Dental insurance Employee discounts $60 annual shoe allowance 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matching funds SUMMARY The Cafe Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the entirety of daily operations within their assigned Café. They oversee all FOH and BOH operations ensuring a great customer experience while maximizing sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, cost control, ordering, shrinkage, and staffing. All Cafe Managers are assigned to a home location when hired but may be reassigned to a different Cafe location based on business needs. Our five Cafes are all within Marin County: 2 in Larkspur, 2 in Novato, and 1 in Tiburon. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, upholding excellent standards and thorough product knowledge. Ensure food and health code standards are being met in both café and kitchen areas. Responsible for weekly scheduling and payroll of all staff, including but not limited to managing time off requests for staff and yourself according to company policy. Maintain appropriate merchandise stock levels, presentations and assortment for the café retail display. Manage all ordering for the café and maintain appropriate levels of product. Maintain cafe staffing according to the business need; Place ads for needed new hires, screen and hire accordingly. Train staff as needed, including but not limited to opening and closing procedures, proper money handling, product knowledge, coffee service standards and new menu items. Manage staff to include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Jump in to assist other employees (i.e. cashier, busser, cook, etc.) when necessary due to unexpected absence or extra volume. Inform Staff in a timely manner of new menu item launches and promos. Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced on a routine basis; report any breakage or maintenance needs to your manager in a timely manner. Train staff on safety and ensure all safety measures are followed. Process information and product through payroll system and register system. Other duties as assigned. Requirements SKILLS Passion for creating a great customer service experience. Ability to train and motivate staff in providing the best customer service and maintaining high standards. Must be available to work varied schedule including weekends and holidays. Understanding of financial reports and ability to adjust accordingly to meet targets. Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and changing work environment. Must work well with employees and guests, exercising tact and patience in all situations. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in English. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. EXPERIENCE Experience with payroll systems (Paylocity) and POS systems (TOAST).
