JOB SUMMARY :

TWO BIRDS CAFÉ LIMITED T/A TWO BIRDS CAFÉ & RESTAURANT is looking for a motivated and committed CAFÉ MANAGER to join our team in Raukaka, Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand. You will be responsible for the Café’s smooth functioning and customers’ satisfaction. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $26.00 p/h to $29.00/- an hour.
You will be required to work as per the roster and be available on weekends and public Holidays.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of similar experience in a busy environment or a minimum qualification of a Diploma can substitute for work experience.
  • Understanding of written and spoken English.
  • Understand in Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Punctual, organised and capable of multi-tasking with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively in a busy environment
  • Maintain grooming and uniform standards
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, and supervise cafe staff, including baristas, servers and kitchen personnel.
  • Develop and implement efficient operational procedures to maximize productivity and minimise waste.
  • Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
  • Ensure staff hours are accurately recorded on a daily basis.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, ingredients, and equipment as needed, and price goods according to budget.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of food and beverages to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Ensure daily production minimizes items becoming sold out and reduces wastage.
  • Ensure display cabinets are kept full and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Oversee the management of cash register transactions and balances.
  • Manage finances, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation.
  • Plan menus in consultation with the chefs.
  • Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to the budget
  • Plan and organise special functions.
