Job Title: Café Supervisor
Salary: £12.98 per hour
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Sunday availability required
Work Location: Brick Bank Cafe, 152 Main Street, Bingley
Responsible to: Café Manager
Purpose of the Post
The Café Supervisor will support the Café Manager in the day-to-day supervision and operation of the Café and Lego Activity Area. Working with the Social Enterprise Coordinator, and staff, you will help ensure the café delivers high-quality, affordable food and drinks in a welcoming and inclusive environment for the local community.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong customer service, organisational, and teamwork skills. The Café Supervisor will assist with shift supervision, food preparation, training support for staff, and maintaining high standards of hygiene, service, and safety.

Experience

  • Experience of working in a café or hospitality environment (Essential)
  • Experience of customer service (Essential)
  • Supervisory experience (Desirable)
  • Barista experience (Desirable)
  • Experience supporting volunteers or trainees (Desirable)

Requirements and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about delivering excellent customer service
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to take initiative
  • Capable of supervising and supporting a small team
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy and changing environment
  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Availability to work during café opening hours, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Support the Café Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the café and Lego area
  • Supervise and work alongside staff and volunteers to prepare and serve food and drinks
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are met at all times
  • Provide hands-on support in the kitchen and service area as needed
  • Help train and support volunteers in food prep, customer service, and safety practices
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate supply needs to the Café Manager
  • Maintain accurate daily records (e.g., temperature logs, cleaning schedules)
  • Help implement seasonal and customer-informed menu changes
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere
  • Report any issues or incidents to the Café Manager promptly
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, food quality, and service consistency
  • Assist in maintaining health & safety and food hygiene compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant policies and procedures
