Description

We are searching for an engaging, courteous person who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. Cafe Supervisor will retrieve menu and beverage orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and cafe area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation. You will also be responsible for the supervision of the cafe staff, cafe inventory.

To succeed as a supervisor, you should be committed to providing guests and staff with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
  • Help to hire and onboard new staff and manage their performance
  • Train employees on food and drinks preparation and proper use of equipment
  • Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
  • Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences
  • Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent

customer service

  • Serve beer and discuss the brand with customers
  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
  • Hands-on experience with professional food preparation equipment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Being available to cover staff shifts if needed
  • Manage FOH inventory for accounting
  • Smart serve certified or willing to obtain

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skills in verbal communication required when dealing with customers and others within the organization
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Background in customer service oriented industry is an asset
  • Coffee knowledge an asset
  • Skills in making coffee based drinks and latte art an asset
  • Knowledge and interest in beer and brewing an asset

Training and Experience

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Function 50%

  • Oversees any customer concerns or inquiries
  • Monitor all aspects of the café atmosphere during the shift while serving customers
  • Responsible for assigning duties to all staff to ensure proper service of coffee and food
  • Communicates responsibilities, specials, promotions, and other important information to servers

Operational Function 20%

  • Prepare the restaurant for daily service, including organizing tables and chairs, starting

point of sale system, prepping tills for staff, communicating with the Director of

coffee\Roastmaster about stock of café and restocking those supplies.

  • Discuss with the Roastmaster and Brewmaster on upcoming beers and coffees.
  • Complete closing and opening duties as required, including locking all doors and

ensuring cleanliness of restaurant

Financial and Budgeting 20%

  • Reconcile sales with report print outs using point of sales report
  • Balancing tills
  • Ensure accuracy of transactions and make necessary adjustments
  • Follow up with staff if there are any discrepancies
  • Prepare end of day summary and forward to Restaurant Manager for authorization and submission to the accounting department
  • Consolidation of cash counts and deposits

Other 10%

  • other duties as assigned including covering barista duties FOH

Wages $19 - $20
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 28 – 40 per week
