POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for preparing and cooking various food choices for residents, employees, and visitors while maintaining a high level of quality service. It is also responsible for cleaning and proper usage of equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas. WORK SCHEDULE: 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday-Friday and every other Saturday (a weekday will be provided off when scheduled to work Saturday) 80 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks) Eligible for benefits on date of hire Requirements As a condition for employment, VMRC requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Looking for a high school graduate or GED equivalent. Minimum of one year experience cooking in an institutional food service environment is preferred. Working knowledge of HACCP and OSHA protocols (additional training can be provided). Standing for long periods of time with ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds. Detail-oriented and possess basic mathematical skills. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the basics of the English language. Ability to act and intervene independently in routine and emergency situations. Self-motivated, able to schedule time wisely, and accommodate changes. Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, and the general public in a positive, professional, and customer-first manner. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled. Fluency in a second language is a plus
