QUALIFICATIONS:

A cafeteria manager employed within the Marshall County School System should exhibit high moral characteristics, a good physical appearance, and a friendly, cooperative personality.
A cafeteria manager will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks requiring good physical health and development. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Additionally, a cafeteria manager must have a valid food handler’s card.
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2025-2026 school year with anticipated start date of September 15, 2025, and lasting eight hours per day, typically 6 am – 2 pm.)
SALARY: Salary to be determined by salary classification level, experience, and education according to schedule at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/mcs-salary/. Pay grade D1.

Responsibilities

A cafeteria manager is charged with the responsibility of working within the framework of the Child Nutrition Program of the school and the county. A cafeteria manager will be assigned specific duties under the direction of the building principal and/or the child nutrition director.

Specific duties may include:

  • Assigning duties to food service employees
  • Complete all required federal, state and local program documentation such as production records, menus and inventories in a timely manner
  • Requisitioning for food supplies and equipment with agreement by the building principal
  • Keeping inventories and records pertinent to the food services of a school
  • Preparing menus
  • Aiding in the preparation and serving of meals
  • Inspecting equipment and materials to maintain high standards of sanitation
  • Maintaining positive work habits
  • Performing duties efficiently and productively
  • Maintaining and/or upgrading skills
  • Must obtain a WVDE access email account, check email daily, submit weekly orders, and be able to use MS Office tools effectively
  • Any other duties of a food service nature directed by the building principal or county supervisors.
