Description St. Patrick Catholic School is seeking a part time staff member who can supervise students during all lunch periods. The primary role of this Cafeteria Staff Member is to create a safe, clean, and positive environment for students during mealtimes. This position balances basic food service duties with active student supervision. Requirements Student Supervision & Behavior Management Monitor the Room: Actively circulate throughout the cafeteria to maintain a clear line of sight on all students. Maintain Order: Enforce school rules and positive behavior support procedures to ensure orderly conduct. Conflict Resolution: Help students resolve minor disagreements peacefully and redirect disruptive behaviors. Report severe or repeated infractions to administration. Manage Flow: Direct the safe and orderly movement of students as they enter, exit, and transition through the cafeteria. Seating Assignments: Ensure students sit at assigned tables or in designated areas. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parent volunteers and cafeteria staff managing food service.. Student Assistance & Care Mealtime Help: Assist younger or special-needs students with opening packages, milk cartons, and using utensils. Basic First Aid: Respond to minor injuries or accidents, administer basic first aid (e.g., band-aids, ice packs), and notify the school nurse or office when necessary. Allergy Awareness: Be vigilant about student food allergies and enforce designated "allergen-aware" seating or rules. Cafeteria Operations & Sanitation Cleanliness: Ensure dining tables, counters, and floors are kept clean and sanitary between groups. Assist with Clean-up: Supervise students in cleaning their own areas (throwing away trash, returning trays) and step in to wipe down tables as needed. Qualifications & Skills Education: High School Diploma Experience: Previous experience working with children (e.g., as a teacher's aide, daycare worker, or coach) or in institutional food service is highly preferred. Interpersonal Skills: A patient, caring, and friendly attitude toward children. Strong verbal communication skills to effectively manage groups and de-escalate minor conflicts. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs (e.g., milk crates, food supplies, and tables). Certifications: Must meet diocesan requirements Hourly Salary $16.00-18.00/hour based on experience Summary of Benefits
