Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Learns to perform routine duties associated with cage sanitation and preparation for reuse in a research setting including cage maintenance, monitoring equipment for proper functioning and maintaining sanitary conditions. Operates cage washing and related equipment and ensures that they are in proper working order by cleaning, and preventive maintenance. Performs routine start-up and shut down procedures. Assists in receiving and storing materials, food and supplies. Transports caging supplies between animal rooms and cage wash rooms. Maintains sanitary conditions of cage washing rooms and other ancillary areas, such as hallways and storage areas. Takes the necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations, when working with hazardous chemicals, materials, animals and power equipment. Uses personal protective equipment as required. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent or demonstrated literacy. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
