Description:

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented and creative Cake Decorator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and cake decorating, with the ability to create visually stunning and delicious cakes for various occasions. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent knowledge of baking and decorating methods, and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As a Cake Decorator, you will play a vital role in enhancing our customers’ experiences by delivering beautifully decorated cakes and pastries that are in line with company standards, and meet their expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in cake decorating or a similar role within a professional restaurant or bakery setting.
  • Strong baking skills with knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling practices.
  • Creative mindset with an eye for detail in design and presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • At least 1 year of baking and/or pastry art studies in Canada is an asset.
  • A valid Food Safety and Handling Certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cake batters using various sponge and creaming methods
  • Prepare icings and buttercreams accurately
  • Prepare and maintain stock of all cake preparation components such as cake fillings, icings, simple syrups, and toppings as necessary for efficient quality control and work flow
  • Bake prepared dough products and cake batters according to company standards and demand
  • Ensure quality of products accurately meets company standards
  • Determine production numbers of cakes, cupcakes and pastries according to the schedule assigned for the day, alongside any customer orders
  • Learn and replicate cake and cupcake designs for custom orders and special occasions as assigned by the Chef de Partie and Pastry Chef
  • Frost and decorate all varieties of cakes offered daily, and as ordered
  • Mix yeast doughs, pastry doughs, and cookie doughs accurately
  • Batch out aforementioned doughs into finished products to freeze in preparation for bakers to further process and bake
  • Gain experience using industrial mixers, dough sheeters, and baking appliances.
  • Prepare signature products (i.e. ensaymadas, empanadas, cinnamadas, and any featured products) in a high-volume bakery
  • Prepare yeast doughs for further processing and batching into Filipino-based bread products, occasionally
  • Maintain a cleanly and sanitized work space at all times; most specially in between recipes and procedures
  • Maintain excellent self-hygiene in working in a bakery with excellent knowledge of Canadian Food Handling and Safety procedures
  • Wash dishes, and utensils used through the day according to professional functions, organization, and standards to your role
  • Place clean dishes in appropriate storage areas
  • Complete various duties that may be added and assigned time to time
