As the Clinical Manager for the Calgary Police Service (CPS), you will oversee a team of Mental Health Therapists and Clinical Support staff, ensuring high quality psychological services for CPS members and their families. This role includes leadership of the clinical team, recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and performance management. The Clinical Manager also supports the planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical programs, staff development, and continuing education initiatives. Specific duties include:

  • Supervise mental health assessments, treatment interventions, and clinical outcome evaluations.
  • Provide guidance on clinical practices and identify areas for development.
  • Lead structured weekly clinical consultation meetings with an interdisciplinary team, including Mental Health Therapists, Psychiatrists, and consultants.
  • Review and approve referrals to external and specialized services; coordinate funding and travel when needed.
  • Conduct file audits and review clinical documentation for quality and compliance.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of clinical staff.
  • Identify and coordinate training opportunities and clinical tool implementation.
  • Provide direct intervention or supervision for crisis cases involving CPS members and families.
  • Manage case coordination, including gathering referral information and liaising with community providers.
  • Monitor and report monthly clinical service statistics and contribute to program development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master’s degree in psychology or social work and a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated clinical experience, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Certification or relevant training in clinical supervision is required.
  • Active registration and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) is required.
  • For applicants with a master’s degree of social work, preference will be given to Social Workers with Clinical Registration under the ACSW. Registered Social Workers must have authorization to perform psychosocial interventions.
  • Experience supervising Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and evidence-based trauma therapy (Prolonged Exposure, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy) is required.
  • The successful applicant will be competent in analytical thinking, coaching and development, communication, conflict resolution, leadership, managing resources, team building and teamwork.

  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
